[The letter below can be used by Metro DC social workers to pitch their supervisors on allowing time off or requesting budget support to attend the conference. See the Virginia version of this letter if you are a Virginia social worker.]
Dear Supervisor,
I would like your approval to attend the 2023 Joint Annual Conference of the Virginia and Metro DC chapters of the National Association of Social Workers virtually April 20-22 or by on-demand-only April 23-June 23.
The event enables me to quickly earn up to 17.5 CEs live-virtually or 63.5 CEs live-virtually plus 60 days’ access to recorded sessions or on-demand-only April 23-June 23. I’m especially pleased that the agenda of 30 sessions includes numerous breakouts that offer ethics contact hours needed to meet Virginia’s license requirements of six hours of ethics training.
The conference also is multidisciplinary and engages hundreds of social workers from metro DC, Virginia, and more than a dozen other states, so virtual networking should be terrific. Also, the education lineup was put together by a Conference Committee of social workers to ensure all content is relevant, timely, and high quality. Reviews by the in-person conference attendees from March 23-25 are outstanding.
The event has a Virtual Exhibitor Fair with 29 service and product providers whom I can connect with to discuss our needs, if you’re interested.
The cost to register is $390 [if you’re an NASW member, $510 if you aren’t] for live-virtual attendance, $490 for live-virtual plus 60-day recorded-session access [if you’re an NASW member, $630 if you’re not], or $540 [if a member, $690 if not] for on-demand-only.
Upon my completion of the conference, I will share key takeaways, including those that we might consider or implement immediately to help our clients and organization.
Thank you for your consideration of this request.
Regards,
